The Art program at St. Norbert College emphasizes both technical craft and engagement with contemporary art and design theory and practice. Rooted in the liberal arts tradition, our students develop as thoughtful makers and critical thinkers whose creative work enriches and is enriched by their broader academic and intellectual experiences.
Art students have access to a range of competitive awards and professional development opportunities that recognize achievement while helping prepare them for careers in the arts and creative industries. Awards include the Donald P. Taylor Art Scholarship, supporting majors who demonstrate financial need and artistic excellence; the Bill Bohne’ Memorial Art Award, recognizing outstanding art majors and minors; the Daniel F. Dickhut Art Award, honoring sustained achievement and commitment to the department; and the Jeanne M. Godschalx Art Award, celebrating creative passion and dedication. Students may also earn distinction through the department’s Annual Student Juried Exhibition, where an invited arts professional evaluates student work and selects award recipients, providing valuable external recognition and professional feedback.
